This week...

I had been thinking that it probably isn't good for Elora to stand directly in front of the tv, which is what she always does. When I found this little Spiderman chair at Walgreen's on clearance for $4.99, I thought it would be perfect for Elora. It's obviously a little boys chair, but it was the only one left and and a really good price. Did it work? Not really. She'll sit in it for about 2 minutes before she's back up and standing up 6 inches from the television again. But when the tv is off she'll sit in it a read her books.

We just found out that the Traders Point Christian Church about 2 miles away from the house has a huge indoor park/playground. It's free to go and you don't have to be a member of the church. It's huge! There is also a little area with tables and chairs, so you can pack a lunch or snack to eat while you're there. That's Elora in the navy blue and teal. We went to the park this past Wednesday for a play date with Layla (in the pink shirt).

Thursday night, we had spaghetti for dinner. I learned an important lesson...Elora must be buckled in the high chair. I usually just put her in and pop the tray on. I don't use the buckle just because it's easier not too. And she's never attempted to get out of it. Until now.
She had made a real mess of herself at dinner and I decided she was going straight from high chair to bathtub. I left to go start the bathwater. I was probably gone 45 seconds...When I came back out...my heart jumped into my throat when I saw Elora was on all fours on top of the tray, leaning over very close to the edge.. saying "Baah!" (this means bath)
She had heard the water running and decided she was done eating and was ready for her bath.
I rushed over and grabbed her up. Whew! a few seconds later could have been a disaster...I could see her falling and landing right on that big forehead of hers. Glad we avoided that concussion.

We have a lifesize Flo in the lobby at work now. She came in the mail from the Corporate Office a few days ago. They sent her mentioning that our customers could have their pictures taken with her if they so desired. I'm the only one so far.

Some pictures from today

It was so nice out! I think it got up to about 70 degrees. We went to the playground and Elora played on the swings.

And played in the mulch.

Later in the evening we stopped by the Thompsons for a pajama playdate.

Elora and Keira are just one day apart. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day babies.

We went to the eye doctor on Thursday...

According to Dr. Clark, the pediatric ophthamologist, Elora has Exotropia.

Exotropia, from what I gather, is the opposite of crossed eyes. In Elora's case, it's not constant and seems to only affect her right eye.
Here is a link to more info:

To treat it: We were given prescription eye drops. Once a week we will put the drops put in her left eye (her good eye). The drops will dilate the pupil of her good eye and make things a bit blurry. This should make her weak eye work harder and help strengthen the eye muscles. This is what they do now instead of patching, which makes sense because it would probably be hard to make 14 month old keep a patch on her eye.

We go back in 6 weeks to reevalute.
I took a couple pictures of her at the doctors office.

This one sort of shows they way her eye turns out

Elora was given a balloon

today when we went to Trader Joe's to get some groceries. She wore it proudly, tied to her wrist while we did our shopping. On the car ride home, she held it and gently gnawed on it until she fell asleep. Surprisingly it did not pop. Then this evening, in avoidance of pajama time, she spent some more time with her new balloon, joyfully circling the living room in her diaper.

This little helium loving lady is 14 months old today!

Macaroni and Cheese

is messier than I thought it would be.

Yo Gabba Gabba

Is Elora's favorite. She can even ask for it my name..."Babba" It comes on everyday at 4:30. It completely mesmerizes her. There is lots of colors and music and dancing. For Xmas, I made her some of the dolls/monsters and a shirt. Throughout the show, several kids introduce themselves and then show off their dance moves. So the other day when Elora was watching Yo Gabba Gabba, with her Yo Gabba Gabba shirt on, I thought I'd capture the moment.

Here, I'm calling her name, trying to get her attention. She won't look away from the tv.

Baby Bath Time

Tub time. (Elora really likes her duck)

Time to run around naked until Mommy catches and clothes me.
