we painted all day yesterday

While I did like the taupe brown color we had on the walls before.  It seemed too dark. After midmorning, we don’t get a whole lot of natural light in the house. This new and improved pale blue has definitely lightened things up.  here are some before and after pics. Since I did not actually take a “before” picture, I dug up a few in my old pictures on the computer.   011_11

The kitchen used to be a sea foam green color.  Now it’s  blue too.  This is the best I can find of the old color at the moment.  I think if you double click, you can enlarge the picture and see it better.

We’re talking about painting the cabinets too.  I’m not a huge fan of ours, I think they're pine? I’d like them darker. Alfred would like them white. But repainting cabinets is quite the project and would likely take several days to do. So, some other time…

I over estimated how much paint we’d need and have a whole gallon left unopened.  I’ll have to find something else to paint or give it away.

This isn’t really a before and after picture, but here’s Elora at the same age Vincent is now…elora2months 012 100_2790

Haha-I guess 2 months old is when babies start sucking on their fists.  :)

100_2502All that biking and pop cycle eating wore her out.  Well actually it’s after 7:00 pm here. Almost time for a bath and bed.  I’m so glad Indiana practices day light savings now! It’s still light out well past 8:00. 100_2513

This is the tree in our front yard. It’s an ornamental plum. It smells soooo good right now. Very fragrant. As soon as you step outside you can smell it.

When I’m not paying attention

and I promise, this kind of thing happens within  minutes…I’ll be feeding the baby, or washing dishes, or putting away laundry and realize that it is a little too quiet. So I call out Elora’s name. Most of the time I hear back “yes mama!” When she answers me, I know she’s probably just sitting somewhere playing contently.  When I don’t get a response, I know I better go find her. quick! These two messes happened on the same day. Both times, I was feeding Vincent.

Here, I must have left the can of formula too close to the edge of the counter. She pulled it down, took of the lid, and is scooping it into the top of a bottle. (and spilling it all over the floor)  100_2321

And then later there was this. She got a hold of a pot of lip gloss and ‘glossed herself’.  This time she was less than 10 feet from me. I could only see the back of her, and I thought she was just standing there playing with her stickers.  Nope.

Running around outside

Elora loves to be outside. She would spend the whole day out there if she could. Which is great. However,  since she’s only 2, I have to go with her. Which would be fine. but then we have Vincent. He’s a little young to be outside hanging out 60 degree weather.  So when Vincent goes down for a nap, we put him in his bouncy seat close to the window. Then we go out to our itty bitty back yard. Elora can run around and I can still hear if the baby needs anything. For playing out back, Elora has the option of sliding on her little slide or running up and down the little hill that our backyard backs up to.  Here’s today.

100_2311 This one makes me laugh. She looks so grown up!

100_2228 100_2222  She still does “the wink” at times.

A little girl and her trike

Everytime Elora sees someone on a bike, she asks me "where's my bike?"  When I explain to her that she does not own a bike,  or that we don’t have one,  her level of disappointment varies...sometimes a pout, sometimes big tears. I tell her we will get her one soon and that usually helps until the next time she sees someone on a bike… and we have the conversation all over again.

I figured I’d see one at garage sale this summer and pick it up, but yesterday I drove by Once Upon a Child and decided to stop in and check.. I found for this one for $8. Her feet don't quite reach the pedals so she scoots more than she rides...but she's very happy just the same.  This evening at dinner she asked me “where’s my bike, Mama?”  It was nice to be able to answer “its in the backyard, where you left it” 100_2034
