Vincent's First Trip to the Emergency Room

(and hopefully not the first of many)

We noticed Vincent wasn't using his right arm. And when he did, he would cry and point towards his wrist.  It didn't appear to be bruised, swollen, etc. so we weren't sure what was wrong. No one saw him fall down and hurt himself but I thought maybe he had sprained it by falling on it somehow.  He's always climbing and jumping on everything in the house. It definitely didn't look broken.  Also, he didn't seem to be in constant pain-he was still smiling and laughing for the most part. But if he moved his hurt arm, he would cry out. Mom came over to check on him and decided we probably should get him to the ER to be looked out. We wrapped his wrist and made him a sling out of a scarf to hold his arm still for the car ride over.

After XRays and about 3 hours of waiting around, the doctor met with us and explained he thought maybe Vincent had dislocated his elbow. It's common for children to complain of pain in their wrist with this type of injury-I guess because of the where the nerves are located. The Doc had me hold on to V and said "put your arm around him this is going to hurt".  He grabbed hold of his elbow, twisted his arm up and Click! It was back in place and Vincent was using his arm again within 30 seconds!  All better. They gave his a dose of Tylenol and some stickers and we where all done.  Good as new:)
