upright elora

As of the past week or so, Elora is able to pull herself up onto furniture and other objects. She crawls over to something, grabs hold, and stands right up. She then smiles real big-she seems to be very proud of herself-as though she's thinking "wow, look what I just did!" She actually practiced quite a bit on this box. Unfortunately, this new skill has resulted in a few bumps and bruises. Sometimes, she lets go of what she holding on to and looses her balance. Other times, she just stands right up and hits her head on a tabletop, corner, etc.
Last weekend, I took her outside to pose for a few pictures. She's in her dress that her fabulous uncles, Butch and Scott, got for her in Puerto Vallarta. She's getting to be such a big girl!

Grandpa's 80th Birthday-9/13/08

Saturday was my Grandpa's 80th Birthday, so we went to Effingham, Illinois for the weekend to celebrate. It was a fun time, and it was so nice to see everyone...Grandma and Grandpa and all of my aunts and uncles and cousins... We really don't see them often enough and it will probably be Christmas before we see them again.

Zionsville Fall Festival--September 7th

Today Alfred and I took Elora to the Zionsville Fall Festival. Its held every year at the Lions park and pretty much, its like a little carnival. They have rides, games, food, and booths set up by different local area vendors. It was a perfect day for it, the weather was amazing. Just warm enough.
There isn't a lot that Elora can do yet. But I think she had a good time riding around in her stroller. We met Andy, Steph and their girls, Maddie and Sophie. Steve, Nikki, and Paula were there too. We ate, walked around, played some games, and stopped by the playground.

Shopping Saturday 9/6/08

Today we went to Kohl's for some clearance shopping. Thought it would be a good idea to buy some clothes for Elora that she can wear next summer. She already has a lot of pretty dresses that her Nana Gloria bought for her, so we were looking to get some shirts, shorts, play clothes and that sort. Found some good deals on the 70%-80% off racks. Elora was a very good baby and had fun riding in the shopping cart.

After looking at the markdown racks in nearly every department, Grammy and Elora had some fun trying out the giant pillows and the big comfy chair in the homegoods section.

Oops, dont drop the baby!

After shopping, we had a bite to eat at Panera. Elora happily shared our lunches with us. She likes everything she tries. I haven't found a food she doesn't like. We tried giving her a lemon wedge to suck on to see if she would make a funny face. Nothing. It didn't faze her one bit.

Later when we got back to Grammy and Poppy's, Elora tried out sitting on the horse cart. Next summer, when she's a little bigger, she'll have lots of fun riding on it when the horses pull her around the yard. Lucky girl!
