12 month check up and new pjs

Elora had her 12 month check up today. She weighs 19.4 pounds and she is 30 inches tall. She got 3 vaccines-chicken pox, measles/mumps/rubella, and influenza. I always feel bad for her come shots time. I help hold her down and two nurses with needles poke her in her little thighs. Two shots in one leg and one in the other. Luckily its all over in a matter of seconds. I talked to the doctor about a concern I have with Elora's right eye. Sometimes when she looks up at me, it seems like her left eye is looking directly at me, but her right one seems a little off to the side. Dr. Onan did a quick test with his otoscope and confirmed that he agreed with me. He thinks she has strabismus, aka lazy eye. He gave me a referral so we can go see a pediatric opthmalogist. So I'll call tomorrow to make an appointment. I've done a small amount of internet research on the topic today. Sounds like it is very treatable, especially since we've noticed it very early on. Also, its not constant-it seems to only happen every now and again.
Today at Target I found the some adorable pajamas. The price was right, on clearance for $3 dollars. I debated whether or not to get them at first. They are little boy pajamas. Finally, I decided Elora should have them anyway. They have cute little retro wind up toys all over and they were so soft and cozy. Plus, the girl has so much pink and purple, I figured a little blue might be nice. It'll bring out the color of her eyes. her lazy eyes :)

Whats with the crazy face???

Elora is officially walking. and stumbling.

Here are a few 10 second movies of her in action.

an early love of reading..

Elora loves to read her books. Most of the time, she sits in my lap and has me hold the book while she turns the pages. Today, I tried to show her how she could look at her books by herself. She got the hang of it. She loves turning the pages.

12/27/08 Lohman Family Christmas.

.
We get together with my Dad's side of the family-usually the Saturday after Christmas Day-annually. We head to Grandma and Grandpa's in Effingham, Illinois which is about a 2.5 hour drive. Then the actual Christmas party has been at Aunt Kathy's as long as I can remember, which is a short drive from Grandma and Grandpa's, in Watson, Illinois. It's a nice time, and I get to see all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We usually have a White Elephant gift exchange for the adults, which is always fun. And then younger kids are brought a gift to open up. I didn't take to many pictures but here are a few
